What it is about
The certification for this particular profession falls within the professional role profiles defined by the UNI 11621 standards
The Web Accessibility Expert deals with the processes inherent in the implementation and verification of the accessibility of information and services on the Web. His role within a project may be either development or support of interfaces, applications and content for the web.
The importance of this profile is becoming more and more relevant in both the public and private sector, especially due to regulatory developments that have extended the obligation of accessibility to digital tools for all users.
Pre-requisites
Eighth grade education, 4 years of experience in the ICT sector, 2 of which in the web field.
Technical skills subject of the certification examination:
Knowledge of the needs and habits of Web users.
Knowledge of assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers, magnifiers).
Knowledge of accessibility assessment techniques and tools.
Web writing.
Techniques for accessible multimedia.
Markup and style sheets (e.g. XHTML, HTML and CSS).
Scripting languages (e.g. ECMAScript).
ISO/IEC 40500:2012 – Information technology — W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.x
Web Accessibility Guidelines of the W3C WAI project (e.g. ATAG).
Web publishing tools (e.g. CMS, Blog, Editor).
Accessibility of mobile applications.
Accessibility of objects based on specific programming languages.
ISO 9241-151:2008 – Ergonomics of human-system interaction – Part 151: Guidance on World Wide Web user interfaces.
ETSI EN 301 549 – Accessibility requirements for public procurement of ICT products and services in Europe.
